09/11/2021 Amouranth NFT Selling for Ridiculous Amount of Money

An NFT bearing the likeness of popular Twitch streamer Amouranth is selling for a ridiculous amount of money at auction.

For years, Amouranth has been one of the most popularTwitchstreamers on the entire platform, and it doesn't look like her popularity is going to wane anytime soon. Amouranth is making a ton of money offTwitch, as confirmed by the recent Twitch data leaks, but she has a rather diversified income stream. She's one of the people to get in on the NFT (non-fungible token) craze, and now an NFT of her likeness is going for a ridiculous amount of money in an online auction.

The bidding for the Amouranth NFT has surpassed $125,000 at the time of this writing, which is impressive, to say the least.Amouranthtweeted out her reaction to the bidding, saying "I guess I'll be doing this again," indicating that there will almost certainly be more Amouranth NFTs sold at later dates. Of course, it's possible that the people bidding on the Amouranth NFT aren't doing so legitimately, but if the bids are real, it will be huge for the Twitch streamer.

For those who don't knowwhat NFTs are, they are oftentimes digital art pieces that people pay to own the original license for. So while anyone could simply click on Amouranth's tweet and save the image, they wouldn't have the license to prove their ownership of it. NFTs have become increasingly popular these past couple of years, alongside cryptocurrencies, and it will definitely be interesting to see if they continue to take off as they have been recently.

In any case, if this Amouranth NFT auction is legitimate, it seems that the Twitch star won't have trouble making ends meet if any of her bans ever stick.Amouranth has been banned from Twitchon numerous occasions for a variety of reasons, though she has always been allowed to return to the streaming platform afterwards. There was some concern that the latest Amouranth ban was going to be permanent, but after a few days, she was able to hop back on and continue making content.

Whenever Amouranth is on Twitch, she is consistently one of the most popular content creators on the streaming site. Recently,Twitch introduced a new IRL categorycalled Animals, Aquariums, and Zoos, and Amouranth immediately became its top streamer. This was thanks to Amouranth's ranch streams where she legitimately shows animals.

In the meantime, one has to wonder ifother top Twitch streamerswill try to get in on the NFT action as well, now that Amouranth's NFT has reached such a high price at auction.

Genesis
José Delbo sent me his striking pencil sketch and powerful inked work, which I then interpreted in oil on canvas. I wanted to create a very painterly piece with obvious brush marks etc, but I was also aiming for a nostalgic feel, a kind of 1980’s superhero comic book look, the kind I grew up with. My goal with this animation was to try to recreate, in part, the creative process that both artists went through with the visual information I had. I was able to showcase my painting process more accurately as I could take photographs of my progress throughout. Consecutive images could then be layered like brush strokes over José’s drawing to create the impression that this was one continuous artwork from pencil, to ink, to completed painting. The representation of the line sketch at the beginning, then pencil/ink and lastly the paint layers being applied demonstrate both artists’ struggle for the right lines, tone, form, and colour until the work is finally completed. As the oil was still wet with each photograph the glare of my studio lights can be seen in the brush strokes. Eventually, the figure emerges and as it does, our hero comes to life, looking directly at the viewer -- but is he grimacing in approval or disgust? We will never know for sure as just before he can say anything, white paint is brushed across the canvas entirely and the process begins again. Only the bat is quick enough to escape.
CryptoPunk #3831
The CryptoPunks are 10,000 uniquely generated characters. No two are exactly alike, and each one of them can be officially owned by a single person on the Ethereum blockchain. Originally, they could be claimed for free by anybody with an Ethereum wallet, but all 10,000 were quickly claimed. Now they must be purchased from someone via the marketplace that's also embedded in the blockchain.
