At 12 years old, Nyla Hayes is already many things, including a student, artist and, yes, millionaire entrepreneur. And yet when you speak with Nyla you don’t get the feeling that her sudden success has gone to her head.

And it would certainly be easy to get carried away. After all,Hayes has already earned over $5.7 million in Ethercryptocurrency thanks to her NFT artwork, which has sold extremely well. She also recently created a collection for Time Magazine as an “Artist-in-Residence”portraying Time’s 100 Women of the Year.

It’s no wonder that we’ve named Hayes to the 2021 Future 50 Awards, which recognizes the 50 most influential people in technology who are driving innovation.

My Long Neckies stand for diversity. It’s meant to make people comfortable in their own skin and make young girls feel powerful about being themselves.

Inspired by the long necks of her favorite dinosaur, the Brontosaurus, Nyla is known for her Long Neckie portraits of women. And it started when she was age 9.

In this week’s Totally Rated, In this week’s Totally Rated, Call of Duty Vanguard is finally official, CyberPunk revealed some free DLC and Far Cry VR: Dive Into Insanity hits the market - but is it really a Far Cry Game? This week CyberPunk revealed some free DLC but is it enough to pull you back into the world of Night City? The free DLC comes bundled with the 1.3 patch that is live right now. Additions include a couple of nice new jackets for your player character V and a new car skin. But the big one is the alternative look for the ever present Johnny Silverhand played by Keanu Reeves. His new look can be activated from the ‘addition content’ tab from the main menu and gives Johnny a freshly chopped hair-do and an unbuttoned black jacket. New episodes of Totally Rated will roll out every week.

“I was actually at my Grandmother's and I just got my new phone, and I asked my Grandma what should I draw. And she said ‘draw something that you love to do,’ said Hayes. “So I love being a female and I love the brontosaurus dinosaur and I said well what if I put the two together and start making these girls with long necks and call them long neckies.”

Before Hayes knew it she had created a collection, and her uncle advised going the NFT route for two reasons. One, it would enable her artwork to be seen by more people without much up front cost and, two, “blockchain provides me protection on my IP,” as Hayes puts it.

Spoken like a true 12-year-old. Although to be fair, Hayes turns 13 January 1st.

For Hayes, the message of her artwork is a lot more important than the payoff. The Long Neckies concept is about empowerment and loving yourself.

“My Long Neckies stand for diversity and women from all around the world. It’s meant to make people comfortable in their own skin and it’s meant to make young girls feel powerful about being themselves,” said Hayes.

So what’s next? Hayes didn’t want to give too much away, but she wants to continue to inspire others and plans to do just that by mixing the NFT space and the digital world with the physical world.

“I’m going to try to put the two together but that’s all i can tell you,” shared Hayes. Stay tuned.

Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
"Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?" is dedicated to the mysterious creation of Bitcoin, and acts as the showcase artwork within Javier Arrés’ exploratory series "Bitcoin, The Origin". "Who is the creator of Bitcoin?" The artist, Arrés, explores this question, and the feelings of doubt and mystery that accompany it, through his unique artistic language. An unknown, an enigma. It should be remembered that the name Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym of Bitcoin's author or authors and gives us little insight into its true creator. For this Visual Toy, Arrés uses the signature claw machine, his famous half-operation, to symbolize our collective ignorance and unconfirmed belief: As soon as it has the stuffed animal within its grasp and appears to have solved the puzzle, the animal escapes again, and again. At present, there are three more public and studied possibilities who are either believed to be the creators of the currency or who directly claim the creation of it. It may be all or none of them, yet these three personalities leave us clues which are an important part of this interesting enigma. For this moment, it will remain unknown... In this artwork, Arrés elevates the claw machine from the apparatus, to an iconic pop art object serving as an important element to the Bitcoin creation narrative. Action is everywhere, with each movement serving an iconographical or metaphorical purpose related directly to cryptocurrency: Various ups and downs, roller coasters, mining points, robot, coins and more speak to a sense of hope, risk, mystery, randomness and possibility of pay out. Hundreds of manically thought out details make this creation one of the artist’s most complex Visual Toys to date. ------- "Bitcoin, The Origin" is a set of two Visual Toys, titled "Who is Satoshi Nakamoto" and "It’s Alive!" which reflect and explore the mystery and enigmas behind the creation of Bitcoin. Arrés presents these proposals to us in his signature style, full of iconography, fantasy, maniacal animations and a panoply of details (both subtle and overt) which simultaneously fascinate, hypnotize, and narrate this historical milestone through the singular vision of the artist. Through this series, Arrés freezes a crucial moment of cryptocurrency history, taking a still photo under his vision and turning it into two unique crypto artworks. ---- More info about Javier Arrés: https://javierarres.com/about.html
