Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has begun rolling out NFTs for some U.S. creators on its flagship social network.

Facebook is starting withEthereumandPolygonNFTs but will soon add support for NFTs onSolanaandFlow, a Meta representative toldDecryptvia email.

Meta Product Manager Navdeep Singh shared a sneak peek of whatNFTswill look like on Facebook in a Twitter post Wednesday. According to the post, users will have a ā€œdigital collectiblesā€ tab on their Facebook profiles where they can showcase their NFTs, which are unique blockchain tokens that signify ownership.

Users will be able to connect theircryptocurrency walletsto their Facebook profiles. Theyā€™ll also be able to turn their NFTs into Facebook posts, which can be reacted to, liked, commented on, and shared just like any other post.

Tech and media consultant Martin Bryantarguedthat Meta "clearly wants to offer a home toWeb3folks" with the announcement, considering the company has also recently begun testing out changes to Facebook Groups to make them look "more likeDiscord."

Singh did not respond toDecryptā€™s request for comment.

The social media giant previously began rolling outNFTs on Instagramfor some creators ā€œin a handful of countriesā€ in May, the Meta representative confirmed toDecryptvia email.

In an earlierannouncement, Instagram shared that NFTs posted or shared on the app will automatically tag both the NFTā€™s creator and collector, and the company wonā€™t charge any fees for posting or sharing NFTs. Collectors will also be able to share their NFTs asaugmented reality stickers.

Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, previously said that Instagram is launching NFT features in part because of the growing creator economy.

ā€œNow, we think one really interesting opportunity for a subset of creators is NFTsā€”the idea of owning a unique digital item,ā€ Mosserisaid in May.

Meta did not respond toDecryptā€™s request for comment on whether or when Facebookā€™s NFT features will go live to all users.

Googly Gold Lemonade
Good morning! I'm Googly Gold Lemonade. I'm often referred to as the Chandler Bing of the group. I once frolicked with a rooster. I don't like to talk about it. This will be an amewsing friendship.

Auto-Erotic Sphinx with Toys
In this image, a giant sphinx spoons itself in erotic play within an aquatic styled environment littered by various denizens. These creatures include symbols and archetypes both current and nostalgicā€“each inhabiting a rootedness within mass cultural adolescence. Among the roster are Servbots, video game inspired mushrooms, a Pacman-like creature, a distant sea faring rubber duck, creatures sporting the symbols reminiscent of popular anime, and a Pokemon-like rabbit (a novel incarnation of Ganesha indicated by the Shiva trident on its nose). In addition, a few sea creatures partly inspired by sea monsters of western antiquity conglomerate along the mid left side of the composition. The Sphinx itself is an amalgam of aquatic, fetishist, ancient Egyptian, and 80ā€™s style adornments, both living, as in a clown fish, or material, such as a cassette tape. Nautically colored antennae receive somatic signals from the atmosphere, perhaps from the 8 Ball moon or giant ringed planet beyond.
