30/12/2022 Manchester United accused of copying NFT artist after launching new collection

Manchester United recently launched an NFT collection with Tezos titled The Devils.

On December 28, NFT artist Lucrece reported that he is in talks with Arthur Breitman, co-founder of Tezos, to get an explanation as to why Manchester United’s new NFT collection is using designs and styles similar to his own.

I’m not saying@ManUtdwas inspired by my work, but I’m not saying Manchester United wasn’t inspired by my work.pic.twitter.com/q09Y6uouxF

It’s important to note that Arthur and I both share sentiments that art and artists on tezos is something we both want to protect.

I think the resolution here should be beneficial for everyone involved.

The artist in question was careful enough not to directly accuse Manchester United of plagiarising his art, although he still showed how the two artworks look very similar.

There has since been an update as Lucrece got a response from the club and it sounds like they will be able to find a solution.

Update: correspondence between me and ManU has started. Had a productive call with them just now. Probably the last update on this for a while since everyone is still on holiday.

In times of adversity, you’ll know who your friends are. Thank you, tezos community.

Enhanced Interrogation
Continuing the exploration of well known algorithms, this work delves into pixel sorting. The works of several cubists were first averaged with custom averaging software and then sorted with a bespoke pixel sorting algorithm. All tools were written in javascript, for masochistic reasons.
Brave Samurai
This is the second collaborative piece that I have created with the very talented Dutch artist, @eattheart23. Here, a samurai warrior stands guard, honour bound to protect his master even to the death.
The Moth Catcher
In this psychologically bed-headed portrait, a creature sets in a trance; his eyes devolved and vestigal, his third eye open but hardened and in a form resembling a Sharingan. The imagery therefore expresses an awareness existing in corporeal introspection. The creature’s mind sprouts, on the left side, an emerging face, grinning. To the right side of the head, red tentacles and fingers intertwine–a collaboration of invertebrate and vertebrate consciousness cooperatively handling paint brushes of the sort used to build an oil painting. The neck and throat bristle with random thorns, as from a rose or the upper portions of a beak sprouting from its flesh. The neck itself disassociates into layers of membranous material, terminating upon an abstracted base of convoluted forms composing its body. The nose is virtually non existent, more a sinus reiterative of the shape of the third eye. Set against the exposed teeth peering out of thick, meaty cheeks, a skeleton-like impression results. That impression sets behind a visceral set of lips and tongue, which is the creature’s prime seat of awareness. Sensual, organic, the tongue organ hangs, meaty, and with consciousness of a sea cucumber. It illuminates at the tip, drawing the attraction of a nearby moth–with mystery of purpose.

Yo! I'm Candy Ragwood 3. I believe the world is flat. I like to listen to Rihanna while grooming. Don't judge me. Our friendship will be annoying, stinky, and full of apple pie.
