A U.K. committee that consists of members from different political parties wants the nation’s government to work withnon-fungible tokenmarketplaces to address copyright infringement and introduce a code of conduct to better protect creators, according to a report released Wednesday.

Copyright infringement can occur when an NFT is created from a creative work without permission from the creators and owners. There have beenseveral legal disputesin the U.K. and U.S.

“Artists are at risk of seeing the fruits of their hard work pinched and promoted without permission while fraudulent and misleading adverts add an extra layer of jeopardy for investors involved in what is already an inherently risky business,” Dame Caroline Dinenage MP, chair of the Culture, Media and Sport Committee, said in an accompanying press release.

The group started an inquiry into NFTs in November.

Some U.K. football clubs have been releasing tokens that give members access to membership perks like voting on club decisions, merchandise and unique experiences.

“We are also concerned that clubs may present fan tokens as an appropriate form of fan engagement in the future, despite their price volatility and reservations among fan groups,” the report said.

Football fans speculating on sports-based crypto assets could cause financial harm to fans as well as hurt the reputation of football clubs, the committee said.

“In the world of sport, clubs are promoting volatile crypto asset schemes to extract additional money from loyal supporters, often with promises of privileges and perks that fail to materialize,” Dinenage said in the press release.

The committee also asked those who promote NFTs to take responsibility to protect consumers.

Fuku-Shiva
The term “Fuku” refers to fortune or good luck. “Shiva” refers to the Hindu deity who represents strongly polar qualities, both severe and delicate. On a beach inspired by adventures on Phi Phi island in Thailand, three youths cavort. Two are representational figures and the third is psychologically rendered. A dynamic relationship ensues between the triad; a reciprocity of active and passive states. The boy on the right engages in maneuvers of evasion, defense, and is dressed in a speedo which reiterates the colors and symbolism of the caution tape on the left and upper right frame of the composition. In concurrent reaction the psychedelic figure shoots out a rocket powered paper airplane. The nude boy seated in the froth and sand approaches in passive repose, and is met with active attention but equal physical reserve by the psychedelic being. Perhaps the most naked figure is also the least representational. Looming large, dynamic, and active, it engages its companions playfully. Various symbols interject into the otherwise naturalistic scene, most notably a beach ball and two contaminated barrels nested in the sand. The upright barrel reads “FukuShima” in Kanji. The barrel laying down reads “Dharma”. To the left the scene is bounded by caution tape, reiterating the danger of the nuclear waste while also hosting alien archetypes, whose presence, as is the nature of these entities, runs up and just behind the consciousness of the psychedelic figure’s eggshell-like skull.

"I wanna be adored" is a collection that explores the concept of adoration and religion through the artistic glorification of popular icons such as Elvis, David Bowie or Marilyn Monroe, elevated to the category of gods and virgins, from where they claim their right to be worshipped. They occupy in their own right a sacred place, traditionally reserved exclusively for biblical figures. Faith, forgiveness, sanctification and finally glorification are omnipresent concepts in these pieces, which explore not only the need to worship, but the desire to be worshipped ourselves. As a way of vindicating a more human concept of the divine, the protagonists of the collection reign from a more earthly heaven, more within reach of the viewer, illuminated by neon lights, like a heavenly Las Vegas where virtue and sin go hand in hand.
