Attending Game 1 between the Dodgers and San Diego Padres comes with an NFT of Scully calling Kirk Gibsonâs walk-off home run against the Oakland Athletics in the 1988 World Series. Gibsonâs heroics were recently voted the No. 1 moment in Dodger Stadiumâs history.
As Gibson would later share, he was partially motivated to pinch-hit by Scully declaring him unavailable while doing the broadcast. That wound up being Gibsonâs only appearance against the Aâs due to injury.
Fans who attend Game 2 of the NLDS at Dodger Stadium will receive Scully calling Fernando Valenzuelaâs no-hitter in an NFT form. Valenzuela accomplished the feat on June 29, 1990, fulfilling a prediction of sorts.
Less than an hour before first pitch at Dodger Stadium, Athletics right-hander Dave Stewart completed a no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays. Valenzuela saw it on a TV in the clubhouse and wondered aloud if thereâd be a second on the night.
He proceeded to no-hit the St. Louis Cardinals in a 6-0 victory. It marked the only time in baseball history two no-hitters were thrown on the same day. Valenzuela entered the outing having suffered a loss in three of his last six games.
