“This was the first time Kelly and I met during a Sports Illustrated assignment. I met him at his home in Cocoa Beach, FL, with his mother Judy, and then he took me over to his favorite hometown break, Sebastian Inlet, which I had never heard of before. From a photographic perspective, Florida’s beauty is that you can shoot very late into the day since the land is so low. If you're looking east, and nothing is blocking the sun, you get the very last rays of light which are especially beautiful in the Fall. Kelly makes everything look good and is great at everything he does. He is an especially creative person and very talented visually, so he can imagine how he will look. As a collaborator, this is a dream.”
