This guy standing in front of a painting, thinking what possibly he could write about the piece, looks to me like a curator.
As many terms used in our daily life, this one also comes from a Latin word:
"cura" meaning "to take care".
The curator takes care of our cultural heritage and if successful eventually of the heritage of his own name. He is great in interpreting what the artist meant and thought while creating a piece.
Most of the time he even seems to know more than the artist himself and it always makes me laugh when I listen to these intellectual palavers.
Kind of Roomservice to the works of art.
