28/06/2021 Tron's Justin Sun Wins Andy Warhol's "Three Self-Portraits" NFT for $2.8 Million At Binance NFT Auction
The much-awaited Binance NFT marketplace went live last week on Thursday, June 24. The âGenesisâ auction that kickstarted on the same day featuring popular artworks like Andy Warholâs âThree Self Portraitsâ and a digitized NFT of Daliâs âDivine Comedy: rebegetâ.
Tronâs Justin Sun won the bid Warholâs âThree Self-Portraitsâ NFT for a staggering $2.8 million at the Binance NFT auction. This is a great start to Binanceâs NFT marketplace as the auction happens at a time when the NFT industry is facing a severe slowdown.
Tron founder Justin Sun has been one of the active participants in the NFT market and has been keen on acquiring digital collectibles over the last few months. Sun has won several auctions in the past with some popular ones like Beepleâs âOcean Frontâ for a massive $6 million.
Besides, Sun was also aggressively bidding for Beepleâs âEverydays â The First 5000 Daysâ NFT that sold for a staggering $69 million. However, Sun was unfortunate to lose the bid at the last moment.
Citing future potential in the NFT market, Justin sun has launched his own JUST NFT fund. This fund is basically an NFT platform that would mint some of the worldâs top artists and their digital artworks on the blockchain.
Binanceâs Mystery Box and Creators Program
Along with launching the NFT marketplace last Thursday, Binanceâs NFT platform also unveiled its new Mystery Box. This provides a new way for traders to access special NFTs wherein each mystery box will contain a set of different NFTs. The first Mystery Box 16 âtokidokiâ characters, toys from the Japanese lifestyle brand by Italian artist Simone Legno.
On the other hand, to push forward the development and growth of its NFT marketplace, Binance also announced its 100 creators program. this program aims to feature 100 artists on the Binance NFT marketplace and sell their work in form of digital collectibles.

The Harvest
An anthropomorphic figure stands, wide eyed, staring at the viewer; its body masculine, muscular, and humanoid. Its âmindâ dissociates into a conglomerate of structures resembling feathers, grain, teethâas well as a radial flower ânodeâ, casting linear rays throughout the composition.
To his left, a vat of bodies gesture and writhe in a kind of amniotic soup, attended by a video game robot. The bot's red display reads âuWuâ.
Behind the robot and filling the left side of the composition is an archaic figure composed of a variety of vintage objects and symbols. Among them are a hardbound book with ancient cuneiform scripts, indicating barley, beer, bread, ox, house, and sky, behind which is a grimacing, salivating jagged toothed maw; and an old Commodore floppy drive. The figureâs head tilts toward an illuminated crescent moon, suggesting the Egyptian Sacred Bull.
The archaic figure is composed of a variety of mutating cells, which shift in color, and pattern; eventually breaking free into an ephemeral broadcast of bubbles which move across the background.
The work came into being against a psychological introspection, which included associations to pop culture such as alien abduction and pod people, as well as quite a bit of reflection on grains as a symbol of civilization, agriculture, sustenance, life, and imbibing (mainly whiskies).
