Crypto users spent $2.7B minting NFTs in first half of 2022: Report

Over 1 million unique wallet addresses were involved in the minting process, signaling that nonfungible token market activity remained strong.

According to new market research published by blockchain data firm Nansen, crypto users spent 963,227 Ether (ETH), worth $2.7 billion, minting nonfungible tokens (NFTs) on the Ethereum blockchain in the first half of 2022. An overwhelming majority of minting took place on OpenSea.io.

Minting occurred across 1.088 million unique wallet addresses on Ethereum during this period, Nansensaid. In comparison, about $107 million worth of NFTs were minted on BNB Chain and $77 million for Avalanche. A total of 263,800 unique wallet addresses were involved in NFT minting on the two blockchains.

Sixty-nine NFT collectionslaunchedon May 22 alone, resulting in daily minting volume surpassing 120,000 ETH. The total number of NFT collections minted and sold on Ethereum during the first half of the year was 28,986. Over two-thirds of the NFT projects raised less than 5 ETH, although 140 collections raised well over 1,000 ETH. Cumulatively, the top five NFT collections on Ethereum accounted for 8.4% of overall minting. These include Pixelmon-Generation 1, Moonbirds, VeeFriends Series 2, Genesis Box and World of Women Galaxy.

About half the amount raised stayed with NFT projects, while the other half circulated to non-entity wallets. However, Nansen could only trace direct transfers from the NFT projects’ addresses to the immediate transaction addresses. Subsequent transactions to other counterparties were not captured, thus limiting possible conclusions on how funds were used after NFT drops.

Aside from research,Nansen is also known for index aggregates, such as the NFT-500, that track the performance of the top 500 NFT collections on Ethereum for both the ERC-721 and ERC-1155 token standards. The firm secured$12 million in investmentsfrom Andreessen Horowitz last year.

Inspired by and for the 2018 North American Bitcoin conference in Miami, Florida. The palm tree that has a cracked open Bitcoin coconut suggests that by traveling you can enjoy this tropical digital fruit. The peacock nesting in the tree has spread its wings to flaunt other integrated crypto logos as well. The famous Miami skyline at the bottom incorporates the coins, as well as the code that is transforming the banking buildings that made it. The origin of that skyline is in the 80's cocaine craze, so it is all incorporated into the story of foundational transformation, linked to a global movement. The file size is suitable for an 8K TV. Mr. Moe Levin, the founder of the conference is a collector a physical print of the work. Fuku-Shiva
The term “Fuku” refers to fortune or good luck. “Shiva” refers to the Hindu deity who represents strongly polar qualities, both severe and delicate. On a beach inspired by adventures on Phi Phi island in Thailand, three youths cavort. Two are representational figures and the third is psychologically rendered. A dynamic relationship ensues between the triad; a reciprocity of active and passive states. The boy on the right engages in maneuvers of evasion, defense, and is dressed in a speedo which reiterates the colors and symbolism of the caution tape on the left and upper right frame of the composition. In concurrent reaction the psychedelic figure shoots out a rocket powered paper airplane. The nude boy seated in the froth and sand approaches in passive repose, and is met with active attention but equal physical reserve by the psychedelic being. Perhaps the most naked figure is also the least representational. Looming large, dynamic, and active, it engages its companions playfully. Various symbols interject into the otherwise naturalistic scene, most notably a beach ball and two contaminated barrels nested in the sand. The upright barrel reads “FukuShima” in Kanji. The barrel laying down reads “Dharma”. To the left the scene is bounded by caution tape, reiterating the danger of the nuclear waste while also hosting alien archetypes, whose presence, as is the nature of these entities, runs up and just behind the consciousness of the psychedelic figure’s eggshell-like skull.
