23/09/2022 The Goblintown Creators Just Launched an NFT Marketplace

The Alpha:

  • Truth Labs, the Web3 company behind projects likeGoblintown, Illuminati, and The 187, has launched theTruth Labs Marketplace, a dedicated platform for its NFT collections, according to a press release shared with nft now.
  • Snag Solutions, a white-label NFT marketplace, built the platform in partnership with Truth Labs.
  • The aim is to enable secondary sales of NFTs from its collectionswith reduced fees for sellers, according to the release. The Truth Labs Marketplace will charge a single 5-percent royalty marketplace fee for transactions on the platform.

Why it matters

The stance Web3 companies take towardsmarketplace fees and royaltiesis still evolving. By creating this new platform, Truth Labs aims to address what it and many others in the space view as unacceptably high fees on marketplaces like OpenSea. OpenSea takes a 2.5 percent marketplace fee off of the final price of every NFT transaction and allows creators to set royalties from 2.5 to 10 percent.

ā€œBeyond reduced royalties,ā€ the company explained in the press release, ā€œTruth Labs will introduce more stringent processes for reporting stolen NFTs to better align with the ethos of Web3 and decentralized technologies.ā€

OpenSeaā€™sstolen item policyhas come under increased scrutiny after it updated its guidelines to require police reports within seven days of a user submitting a ticket claiming an NFT as stolen. But many are discontent with howthe platform has approachedand executed its policy. In fairness, however, the decentralized nature of the blockchain means that security in Web3 can be slippery.

Whatā€™s next

Truth Labsā€™ decision to go with an entirely new marketplace dedicated to reducing fees and increasing security for the NFTs in its collections will be an interesting Web3 experiment to watch. Suppose other Web3 entities follow a similar model. In that case, it could lead to a few different things: increased marketplace diversity, greater competition and innovation from NFT communities regarding how they manage their collection, and even more heated (but necessary) debate surrounding the royalties conversation.

Likewise, Snag Solutionsā€™ mission to build brand-specific marketplaces could see significant developments in this respect. Zach Heerwagen and Jason Jong founded the company in July to get around costly NFT marketplaces, and have already launched platforms forCrypto Chicksand Citizens of Tajigen.https://opensea.io/collection/goblintownwtf

On top of that, Jong and Heerwagenā€™srecent proposalto build a marketplace for ApeCoin DAO passed by a landslide in theBored Ape Yacht Clubcommunity. And itā€™s impressive to see a company emerge in the middle of a crypto winter and make waves with such massive names in the NFT space.

LIMITED EDITION 1/1 | includes signed limited edition prints of all 3 states (pre-election, Trump win, Biden win) This piece is a first for Nifty, a token that will change based on the outcome of the election. If anything is constant about the times we now live in, it's uncertainty. This uncertainty is perfectly encapsulated in this piece of artwork as the person buying the piece will not know the final artwork. The artwork will be one state at auction before the election, and after the results of the election are known, will forever change to reflect a Trump or Biden win. PLEASE FUCKING NOTE: If trump wins, this token will change to that video of sexy boi king trump stomping through hell FOREVER. The Harvest
An anthropomorphic figure stands, wide eyed, staring at the viewer; its body masculine, muscular, and humanoid. Its ā€œmindā€ dissociates into a conglomerate of structures resembling feathers, grain, teethā€“as well as a radial flower ā€œnodeā€, casting linear rays throughout the composition. To his left, a vat of bodies gesture and writhe in a kind of amniotic soup, attended by a video game robot. The bot's red display reads ā€œuWuā€. Behind the robot and filling the left side of the composition is an archaic figure composed of a variety of vintage objects and symbols. Among them are a hardbound book with ancient cuneiform scripts, indicating barley, beer, bread, ox, house, and sky, behind which is a grimacing, salivating jagged toothed maw; and an old Commodore floppy drive. The figureā€™s head tilts toward an illuminated crescent moon, suggesting the Egyptian Sacred Bull. The archaic figure is composed of a variety of mutating cells, which shift in color, and pattern; eventually breaking free into an ephemeral broadcast of bubbles which move across the background. The work came into being against a psychological introspection, which included associations to pop culture such as alien abduction and pod people, as well as quite a bit of reflection on grains as a symbol of civilization, agriculture, sustenance, life, and imbibing (mainly whiskies).
