29/11/2022 Game7 Launches $100M Grant Program to Accelerate Web3 Game Development

Quick take:

  • The $100 million grant will be deployed over the next five years.
  • Grants will be distributed to Web3 projects across technology, events, diversity, education, and research.
  • BitDAO and Forte have committed $500 million to Game7’s treasury.

Web3 gaming DAO, Game7, has launched a $100 million grant program to enable game developers to build the tools needed to make Web3 gaming better and more accessible.

Deployed over the next five years at $20 million per year, the $100 million grant will be distributed to projects across technology, events, diversity, education, and research. Game7 believes that Web3 gaming and metaverse infrastructures should be public, open-source, and interoperable and its milestone-based grants are a foundational funding mechanism for the ecosystem.

Game7’s technology grants will go towards supporting open-source projects that drive innovation across the entire blockchain gaming tech stack. Its events grants enable community members worldwide to host online and in-person events such as conferences and workshops focused on propelling Web3 gaming into the future.

The education grant supports ongoing programs and one-off initiatives that advance the knowledge of blockchain engineering and gaming development topics for builders while the research grants are for initiatives that cover the entire gaming ecosystem ranging from game economy governance to player incentives and developer revenue streams.

BitDAO and Forte have committed $500 million to Game7’s treasury. Together with BitDAO and Forte, Game7 will make decisions on how the funds will be distributed and help define gaming standards.

“Improving smart contract standards, tooling, interoperable wallets, and scaling solutions will be crucial on the path to global adoption of Web3 games,” said Game7 core contributor Ronen Kirsh, in a statement. “We have allocated 20% of our committed treasury to fund each of these crucial components so the gaming industry can focus on building sustainable game economies.”

The cross-chain grants program supports games on the Polygon, Solana, Immutable and Arbitrum ecosystems, with more blockchains to be added in the coming months. Interested Web3 game developers can apply for the grant program today at theGame7 Grants Portal.

Block Chain Dungeon
Once upon a time... a little boy named Leo loved to paint, draw and experiment. He also loved to play with blocks and chains, which drew him again and again into the rooms of his friends Michel and Angelo. Often they also met in virtual rooms of Cryptovoxels, Decentraland, Somnium Space or Sandbox to create new inventions, read books about new technologies, or just swing the brushes. But on this day something gigantic happened. A good friend of Leo came to visit and brought his girlfriend Mona, who wanted a piece of Leo's art on her skin. This was the birth of the NFT's, as Leo developed Non Fungible Tattoos in the Block Chain Dungeon of Michel and Angelo. From that day on people from all over the world came to get NFT's from Leo or one of his students, like "Skeenee the rat", who controls the NFT machine with his laptop. A new age began.

Art Blocks is a first of its kind platform focused on genuinely programmable on demand generative content that is stored immutably on the Ethereum Blockchain. You pick a style that you like, pay for the work, and a randomly generated version of the content is created by an algorithm and sent to your Ethereum account. The resulting piece might be a static image, 3D model, or an interactive experience. Each output is different and there are endless possibilities for the types of content that can be created on the platform.
