Fractal, the platform for game-related non-fungible tokens (NFT)developed by Twitch co-founder Justin Kan, is expanding into thePolygonnetwork to boost accessibility.

The platform launched on theSolanablockchain in December 2021 andraised $35 millionin a seed round backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Solana Labs, Animoca, Coinbase Ventures and others. It now hosts dozens of Web3 games, NFTs and tournaments on its site and offers a suite of developer tools to help onboard new creators.

The company said in a press release that expanding into Polygon will help it "focus on user acquisition and provide the blockchain tooling and financial infrastructure necessary to spur successful game development." Its F Studio product suite will now offer a Polygon-based launchpad, marketplace, tournaments, developer SDK, game launcher and sign-in with Fractal service.

In addition, Polygon Ventures, the company behind the Ethereum scaling system, will be making an unspecified "strategic investment" in Fractal to help expand its services. Thirty of Polygon's top games will work with Fractal on a campaign of tournaments and activations to lead-up to theGame Developer Conferencein March.

"Inspired by Justin’s learnings from founding Twitch, Fractal’s mission has been to relentlessly support Web3 game developers with everything they need to build the future of gaming," said Robin Chan, co-founder of Fractal. "From user acquisition to blockchain tooling to financial infrastructure, we put the framework in place so they can focus on successful game development."

The move isanother win for Polygonas it brings new projects and major companies into its ecosystem. Polygon's recent partnerships withNike,RedditandStarbuckshave all been successful, and the blockchainlured awayone of Solana's top NFT projects, Y00ts, last month with a $3 million grant.

The Boy in Bed
You are not alone, little boy. Everyone is prone to some kind of darkness, Treating it like a childhood friend: "How could it possibly betray us?" We share similar stories of descent, Enjoying the illusions we made to cope, Distracting ourselves from the moments Of great awareness—we're running out of hope. We are being swallowed, one by one, And I beg the heavens to bring those illusions back. Our last stars are gravitating away, Leaving our psyche under attack. So please stay awake a little longer, young knight. There are familiar creatures creeping in. They all want your soul in aimless saunter, Like the fish that Jonah lived in. Look up and let's befriend Midnight herself, That perhaps she will calm us down. Don't make the same mistake I did, For I was deceived by a demon with a crown. Who would have ever thought that Our bedrooms could be a warzone? We are lost children of Ares, And our worn-out bed, our throne. Just a little more courage, young prince. Take on shapes like thick smoke, For in your sanctuary of a bedroom, The envious monsters outside, you might provoke. You're shielded and barriered yet vulnerable. You have refuge but not enough strength to fight, For you were tricked into thinking you're weak, By your bad dreams, night after night. See, open your eyes, dear one. Remember, you are not alone In this doomsday-like period Of isolation that no one could have known.

The Harvest
An anthropomorphic figure stands, wide eyed, staring at the viewer; its body masculine, muscular, and humanoid. Its “mind” dissociates into a conglomerate of structures resembling feathers, grain, teeth–as well as a radial flower “node”, casting linear rays throughout the composition. To his left, a vat of bodies gesture and writhe in a kind of amniotic soup, attended by a video game robot. The bot's red display reads “uWu”. Behind the robot and filling the left side of the composition is an archaic figure composed of a variety of vintage objects and symbols. Among them are a hardbound book with ancient cuneiform scripts, indicating barley, beer, bread, ox, house, and sky, behind which is a grimacing, salivating jagged toothed maw; and an old Commodore floppy drive. The figure’s head tilts toward an illuminated crescent moon, suggesting the Egyptian Sacred Bull. The archaic figure is composed of a variety of mutating cells, which shift in color, and pattern; eventually breaking free into an ephemeral broadcast of bubbles which move across the background. The work came into being against a psychological introspection, which included associations to pop culture such as alien abduction and pod people, as well as quite a bit of reflection on grains as a symbol of civilization, agriculture, sustenance, life, and imbibing (mainly whiskies).
