07/10/2024 Telegram Prepares To Introduce NFT Conversion Feature For Gifts: Report

Telegram
  • Telegram is expanding its blockchain capabilities by converting limited-edition Gifts into NFTs.
  • The newly introduced Gifts feature allows users to send custom messages and convert them into Stars.
  • Despite the broader NFT market slump, Telegram is confident in the future of NFTs and digital ownership.

According to recentstatementsfrom Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, the messaging service is gearing up to expand its blockchain capabilities with a new non-fungible token (NFT) feature. This is after the platform released its “Gifts” feature, which lets users send animated images within a custom message to their contact on October 5. These Gifts can be displayed on your user’s profile page or have them converted in the platform’s in-app currency, Star.

Gifts introduces some new interactivity, on top of the social features that platform has. Introduced earlier this year in June, users who receive Gifts are now able to share them on their profile or convert them into Stars. Already, stars are also being used for initiating payments on Mini Apps within Telegram and supporting creators.

NFT Integration On Telegram

Together with Durov’sannouncementthat some limited-edition Gifts will soon be able to be converted into NFTs, this new feature stands out. On his official Telegram channel, he revealed this plan and explained that later this year, users will be able to turn some limited supply Gifts into NFTs on theTON blockchain.

This is further evidence of Telegram’s ongoing work to reach integrate blockchain into its ecosystem by providing uniques ways how user can interact and monetize digital content. Converted into NFTs, these Gifts are then tradeable outside ofTelegram, creating a significant step toward fully integrating platfrorm into the Web3 space.

NFT Market Faces Challenges

NFTs are going through a rough period in the wider market, and issuing tokens onto the blockchain rather than creating them on the network using the system’s native token is not a bad option. The NFT market saw itslowest monthly sales volume since January 2021 in September 2023 with $296 million.

This has been an 81% fall from March 2023, when the market saw its most positive performance of the year. The market was also struggling with the number of transactions involving NFTs falling from August to September by 32%.

The new push from Telegram while the broader market tanked proves that it has faith in the future of NFTs. Furthermore, NFT technology is increasingly being adopted by the company’s digital ownership and decentralized economy.

Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?
"Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?" is dedicated to the mysterious creation of Bitcoin, and acts as the showcase artwork within Javier ArrĂ©s’ exploratory series "Bitcoin, The Origin". "Who is the creator of Bitcoin?" The artist, ArrĂ©s, explores this question, and the feelings of doubt and mystery that accompany it, through his unique artistic language. An unknown, an enigma. It should be remembered that the name Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonym of Bitcoin's author or authors and gives us little insight into its true creator. For this Visual Toy, ArrĂ©s uses the signature claw machine, his famous half-operation, to symbolize our collective ignorance and unconfirmed belief: As soon as it has the stuffed animal within its grasp and appears to have solved the puzzle, the animal escapes again, and again. At present, there are three more public and studied possibilities who are either believed to be the creators of the currency or who directly claim the creation of it. It may be all or none of them, yet these three personalities leave us clues which are an important part of this interesting enigma. For this moment, it will remain unknown... In this artwork, ArrĂ©s elevates the claw machine from the apparatus, to an iconic pop art object serving as an important element to the Bitcoin creation narrative. Action is everywhere, with each movement serving an iconographical or metaphorical purpose related directly to cryptocurrency: Various ups and downs, roller coasters, mining points, robot, coins and more speak to a sense of hope, risk, mystery, randomness and possibility of pay out. Hundreds of manically thought out details make this creation one of the artist’s most complex Visual Toys to date. ------- "Bitcoin, The Origin" is a set of two Visual Toys, titled "Who is Satoshi Nakamoto" and "It’s Alive!" which reflect and explore the mystery and enigmas behind the creation of Bitcoin. ArrĂ©s presents these proposals to us in his signature style, full of iconography, fantasy, maniacal animations and a panoply of details (both subtle and overt) which simultaneously fascinate, hypnotize, and narrate this historical milestone through the singular vision of the artist. Through this series, ArrĂ©s freezes a crucial moment of cryptocurrency history, taking a still photo under his vision and turning it into two unique crypto artworks. ---- More info about Javier ArrĂ©s: https://javierarres.com/about.html
Pending Gerbil #10/23
The #PendingGerbil drew his breath nervously. Fail Dropped Dropped and Replaced There were nothing in this world he feared more. He looked at the chords that crossed the abyss in front of him. They were loaded with pending gerbils, clinging for their life. No open space to be seen. The world machine creaked under the load. As the wheel turned and settled on a new block with a load bang, the chords vibrated, and short shrieks were heard as tired paws lost their grip and the gerbils fell into oblivion. #PendingGerbil closed his eyes, sent a short prayer to @VitalikButerin, and took the leap.
